We know what you should do in December!

When the end of the year is here, then comes the Christmas Lights Festival in Hungary! We start our festive event with candle lighting, which also sets symbolically light to our hearts, waiting for the upcoming holiday!

The festival takes place between the 5th and the 9th of December, which will be a worthy occasion for saying goodbye to this year’s festival season.

And, that’s not all: We also welcome our friends and lovely guests between the 11th and 15th of December, who wish for an amazing route combined with excursions and a great athmosphered christmas fair! It is a really astonishing fact that the christmas fairs in Budapest and in Vienna are told to be one of the bests in Europe. We also make a visit during these days to one of Hungary’s coziest small town, Esztergom and to the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava. Live through the atmosphere with us, where the smell of cinnamon, posset, gingerbread and the real gastronomic specialities enchant every visitor, enhancing the unforgettable experience!

 

Your journey begins with the "pearl of the Danube" the capital of Hungary - Budapest. City with a long and interesting history which territory has more than 120 thermal springs. The most significant symbols of the city is the Andrassy Avenue, Heroe’s Square, Vajdahunyad Castle, Castle of Buda with the Royal Palace and the Fishermen's Bastion which is majestically looking at the deep waters of the Danube. The festival is held in Balatonfured. This resort town is considered to be the capital of the north shore of the Lake Balaton, the largest freshwater lake in Europe. Near the town is a picturesque peninsula of volcanic origin –Tihany, with its majestically towering two-towered church. This church belongs to the country's oldest Benedictine abbey. Healing springs located near Balatonfured got their fame since the Roman period.

 

After the festival you will have a chance to visit the capital of Austria – Vienna. It’s a dream - city for everyone, who is interested in history of music and art. You can walk through the historic narrow medieval streets and wide imperial squares, see the Palace Schoenbrunn and the Hofburg Imperial Palace, marvel at the majestic architecture of the Ring boulevard. Vienna always states as a synonym of music during centuaries; it is the birthplace of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Strauss. You can look up at the local coffee shop, where you can try an excellent coffee and delicious apple strudel. This is just a small part of that you can see while visiting our contest.

The festival is supported by the City Council and the City Administration of Balatonfured, the Mayor of Petfurdo Eva Horvath, and specialists in the field of culture in Hungary.

Accommodation (accommodation in private homes and in hotels 2-3 *, 3-4 bed rooms), Catering: breakfast ("continental European"), lunch, dinner; registration fee and participation fee in the festival, one nomination (performance), tourist tax - resort fee, sightseeing tour in Budapest, walk through Balatonfured, a tour on the peninsula and the Abbey of Tihany or in the city  of Queens, Veszprem.

Attention! Per group is given only one double room at no additional cost. Extra charge for guaranteed accommodation in a double room 10 euro / night / room. Surcharge for accommodation in a single room 15 euro / night / room.

Attention: the Organizing Committee reserves the right to make changes in the program of the festival-contest!

The festival - competition is open for the solo singers and groups aged from 5 years and older.

The participants of the festival are devided into age categories:

 • I age group 5-7 years

• II age group 8-12 years

• III age group 13-15 years

• IV age group 16-19 years

• V age group 20-25 years

• VI age group 26 and older

 

Nominations:

Vocals (soloists, duets, ensembles) ; jazz singing; Academic vocals; choral singing; folk vocals (including folklore and ethnography); bard song.   Back or live vocal allowed  for the soloists. During the folk and academic vocals is allowed to use soundtrack.

Academic vocal (solo, smal group, ensemble, choir) Mandatory requirements: must be submitted 2 different songs of not more than 8 minutes, the repertoire must be age-appropriate. Evaluation criteria: "Performing skills", "Selection of the repertoire", "Scenic culture".

«Folk vocal» (solo, ensemble) Mandatory requirements: must be submitted 2 different songs of not more than 8 minutes. The two songs are following each other. Evaluation criteria: "Performing skills", "Selection of the repertoire", "Scenic culture".

«Estrade vocal» (solo, ensemble) Mandatory requirements: must be submitted 2 different songs of not more than 8 minutes, the repertoire must be age-appropriate. Duration of each performance should not be longer than 3.30 minutes (the organization committee has right to refuse the performance if the soundtrack is crossing the limit of given time, the soundtracks are checked before the contest), before the inning of application you will need to write what amount of time you will need for changing clothes.  Evaluation criteria: "Performing skills", "Selection of the repertoire", "Scenic culture".

«Jazz Vocal» (solo, ensemble). Mandatory requirements: must be submitted 2 different songs of not more than 8 minutes, the repertoire must be age-appropriate. . Competition works executed under the "minus" soundtrack (allowed "back - vocal" only during the refrain). ). Duration of each performance should not be longer than 3.30 minutes (the organization committee has right to refuse the performance if the soundtrack is crossing the limit of given time, the soundtracks are checked before the contest), before the inning of application you will need to write what amount of time you will need for changing clothes.  Evaluation criteria: "Performing skills", "Selection of the repertoire", "Scenic culture".

«Bard song» (solo, ensemble) Mandatory requirements: must be submitted 2 different songs of not more than 8 minutes, the repertoire must be age-appropriate.  Competition works executed under the "minus" soundtrack (allowed "back - vocal" only during the refrain). ). Duration of each performance should not be longer than 3.30 minutes (the organization committee has right to refuse the performance if the soundtrack is crossing the limit of given time, the soundtracks are checked before the contest), before the inning of application you will need to write what amount of time you will need for changing clothes.  Evaluation criteria: "Performing skills", "Selection of the repertoire", "Scenic culture".

Choreography (solo / duo, ensemble): classic dance,; folk dance (ethnic and historical included); national stylized dance; variety, estrade dance; estrade - acrobatic dance; modern trends; ballroom dance (couple, ensemble).

«Folk dance», «Classic dance» (solo, ensemble)

Requirements: 2 competing performances. Duration of each performance is not longer than 4 minutes. Evaluation criteria:«Choreographic work», «Performing works», «Scenic culture». In the category "Folk Dance" the jury will take into account the maintenance and use of folk traditions of the region.

 « Folk stage dance and stylization » (solo, ensemble)

Requirements: 2 competing performances, Duration of each performance is not longer than 4 minutes. Evaluation criteria:«Choreographic work», «Performing works», «Scenic culture». « Modern dance » (solo, ensemble). Requirements: 2 competing performances, Duration of each performance is not longer than 4 minutes. Can take part in this: a team of professionals and amateurs working in the areas of: modern, free plastic, modern jazz, experimental form and etc. Evaluation criteria:«Choreographic work», «Performing works», «Scenic culture».

«Estrade dance» (solo, ensemble). Requirements: 2 competing performances, Duration of each performance is not longer than 4 minutes.   Can take part in this: a team of  professionals and amateurs working in the areas of: show-dance, disco -  small and big groups, hip-hop, club dance, street-jazz, soul-jazz. Evaluation criteria: «Choreographic work», «Performing works», «Scenic culture».

Music

«Instrumental music» (small groups, solo, ensemble, ochestra).

The competition involves orchestras and ensembles of all directions, which are playing on folk, string, wind and other instruments. Need to perform 2 performances of total duration 10 minutes. The two parts are following each other. Evaluation criteria: "Technique", "Music" ("The selection of repertoire," "Artistry").

Accompanist creativity

The competition involved accompanists, working in all directions, playing on folk, string, wind and other instruments. Need to perform 2 performances of total duration 10 minutes. The two parts are following each other. Evaluation criteria: "Technique", "Music" ("The selection of repertoire," "Artistry").

Composer

The competition is open to composers working in all directions. Need to perform 2 performances of total duration 10 minutes. The two parts are following each other. Evaluation criteria: «Songwriting», «Originality», «Technique»

Circus

« Circus arts » (solo, duo, ensemble). In the competition can take part participants whose work is acrobatics, plastic study, juggling, clowning (exception: air, fire, taming). Fort he competition you will need to show 2 performancec of total duration not longer than 8 minutes.

Theatre

«Theatre of fashion». This competition involves participants whose work connected to

Pret-a-porte, evening wear, children and teenagers clothing, historic costume, scenic costume, and etc.

Fort he competition you will need to show two collections. Each of collections should not be longer than 4 minutes. Collections must be performed in different styles and be appropriate to the age of participants „Theatre”. The competition involves an amateur, student theaters, studios, which are working in drama, music (musical), folk, folklore, ethnographic areas, theatrical acts and ceremonies, puppet, literary theater.  Provide performance up to 1.5 hours, miniature solo performance up to 20 minutes.

« Word of art » In the competition taking part the participants whose work are in the direction of prose, poetry, narration, literary and musical composition. For the competition you will need to prepare 2 performances of total duration not more than 8 minutes.

Plain air

«Graphic art» Painting, drawing, architecture. For the competition you will need to prepare 2 works.

Nomination: « Arts and crafts ».

For the competition you will need to prepare 2 works.

«Photo». The competition photographers - amateurs and professionals in the following  directions: genre portrait (any topics and issues), landscape, reportage (shots from 3 to 5 frames), theater and concert photography, studio photography, collage (photomontage, graphics), animals, "humor will save the world" (your photo which brings a smile).

Cinematography

«Movie» The competition program involves gaming and non-gaming feature-length and short films. For the competitive program the movies are accepted on DVD; each film must be submitted on a separate disk with the name of the movie, duration, category, name, address of the filmmaker;

Our festivals - open new horizons not only for the recognized professional and experienced teams, but also to those who have only recently embarked on a creative path. We are dedicated to maintaine a novice young talents and original amateur teams with the widest graduation ages and genres. For your first performance on the stage of international festival which should be a successful and a memorable one, we have prepared for you a special category:

- «Debut» (up to 7 y.o.)

- «Folk» - national folklore traditions

If your team makes only the first steps in the art - you can sharpen your skills by taking part in the festival as a non-part of a competitive program.

For each additional nomination payment have been made:

1/ solo-20 еuro

2/duо-   40 euro

3/small formations/groups ( 3-6 people)  60 еuro

4/ group 150 еuro

Jury of the competition

The competitive program is evaluated by an independent jury, which is invited as a honored culture and arts professionals, educators.

The jury has the right: to share the places, not to award all the places, to award special prizes. The jury has the right to select the best concert numbers for the Final Gala Concert.

Prizes and Awards

Participants of the festival will be awarded on the basis of the Competition. Allowed duplication of places in each category and age group. Participants are awarded with: diploma and prize of the owner of "Grand Prix", awards and diplomas of the winner I, II, III degrees, diplomas of diplomatist I, II, III degrees, diplomas of participation. Participants are awarded with memoriable presents, grateful letters are given to managers and sponsors. The overall winner receives a prize of the Festival and Diploma Grand-Prix. The Grand Prix can be awarded to the team, teacher or artist. The jury's decision is final and not subject to change.

Organizational and technical requirements

1) The soundtracks should be copied on the СD-R disk  with the high quality of sound (MP3  compressed files on CD-RW and DVD discs, USB flash drive and etc. Are not acceptable).  Each of soundtracks should be placed on separate CD with the name of the performance: performer or ensemble, and the duration of the performance on it. The soundtrack/Phonogram Should be given to our sound engineer before three performance of your own start of your competitive performance and should be set at the beginning of the song.

2) Issues not covered by this Regulation are decided by the Organizing Committee of festival.

3) The Organizing Committee of festival has right to use and spread (without payment of fee to the participants and guests of the festival) audio, video, print and other kind of products produced during the festival.

4) Failure to comply the rules of the Festival excludes your part in competitive events.

5) The program claimed by participants can not be changed after the application is approved by the organizer of the festival-contest.

6) In the concert – Opening program of the Festival taking part that groups and soloists which had been chosen by the organizing committee.  

7) Approved order of performances of participants, made ​​up with the time to prepare for the next release and can not be changed.

8) Rehearsals of participants are build up according to the program. A rehearsal before the competition – concert is limited, conducted only technical rehearsal.

9) At the gala concert just the winners are attended with only one performance. The program of the Gala concert is made by the management of the competition, and it can’t be changed.

10) The organizer reserves the right to change the rules.

 

Conditions of participation

The following documents must be submitted to the Committee:

1) Fill the the application form of the participant  or group before 15 November 2014. Partially completed application form are not considered and will be not allowed to take part in the competition. Number of members of the creative team is not limited.

2) All optional tours and services the teams can buy only through the festival organizers according to the previous discusses price.

3) Organization or individuals are required to insure the participants during the trip, stay (the festival organizers can assist in helping to provide health insurance).

4) All lists are given in a print form and sent via email in Word Document form - strictly in the form of application forms of the organizers.

5) Purchasing tickets at the expense of the sending party on the basis that the check in in the hotel is after 14-00 h., and the check-out until 11.00 h.

6) Participants prepare 2 performances for the competition. In the case of a large number of applications the organizing committee will inform all  participants to perform on the stage just one presentation.
